St. Augustine, FL CANCELLED this weekend

In Uncategorized on October 1, 2010 at 2:21 pm

We have had to cancel ALL of our shows this weekend in NE FL. Jen has been fighting the “crud” since last weekend and was winning up until Wed afternoon. She started to loose her voice Wed afternoon. Thursday she had no voice.  We continued to load her up on every home remedy we could find and nothing is touching this.  We were hoping that by this morning, Friday, she would have enough voice for us to come to FL and play some music. Well that’s not the case. Nothing she is taking is working and so right now she sits at the DR’s office waiting to see what they have to say.  It’s so frustrating for us to have to cancel these gigs, we know several of you make plans to be there and we sincerely apologize.  When the singer is down, there is just nothing we can do but wait for her voice to get better. Please help us spread the news to anyone you may know that is planning a trip to St. Augustine this weekend.

Our apologies,
Rob & Jen

New couch means new home for an unhappy cat!

In Uncategorized on September 29, 2010 at 3:45 pm

We are finally adding to our furniture collection. Just before Emery was born 3 years ago, we decided it was time to buy a new couch, something modern but practical for the kids.  World Market was having a sale and well, yes, Rob drove to Montgomery to pick them up to keep his pregnant wife happy. The couch was great and looked great too! As time would go on, it quickly became a great big scratching post for the cats. If you have a cat, you know what I’m talking about.  Imagine that behavior for 3 years!

Now let’s add 2 babies into the mix. Well you get the point, after endless juice spills, throw ups, and other accidents you can imagine it’s condition.

We were gifted 2 nice leather couches last week! Sooooo, with the addition of the new couches, this means Grey has got to go! No more scratching post!   Kahlua, Greys mother, disappeared on us a couple months ago. So it’s just been Grey & Juan around the house. Grey is absolutely miserable with this set up.   A very good friend has decided to adopt Grey and so after 8 years with us, she will be moving 2hrs away. Grey was born at a truck stop in Knoxville, TN! We are sad to see her go, but she will be sooo much happier at her new home.

We love the Fall, it’s definitely our favorite time of year. College football (well Rob has gotten in to it!) But all our favorite shows are back on! Dancing With The Stars, Cougar Town, Private Practice, Project Runway, so thankful for DVR!

The summer just seemed to fly by, I’m sure that’s the case fore everyone.  Sometimes it’s hard to just catch your breath.  We don’t get to see a lot of live music, mostly because, well you know….we did however make some time to see one of our favorite bands, Blue Rodeo who are from Toronto, Ontario.  We saw them play at Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta, GA with about 300 people. Now this is a big deal to us because they are huge in Canada (sell out 15,000 seat amphitheaters!). So to see them up close in an intimate setting like Smith’s was definitely a high light!

Speaking of Canada, it’s hard to believe we have not been home since Christmas! What is up with that. This has to be a first since we moved to Auburn. The kids have been missing it too. They pretend to pack their suitcases and take a trip up there to visit the family. It’s so cute! They are at such fun ages right now and Wilson has become such a good little CD sales dude. He is hard to turn down!

Early morning session

So the kids are off to preschool this morning. That means business around here! We have got some final touches to do on this new record, including finishing up a brand new tune! We started writing it a couple of weeks ago, and haven’t gotten back to it since. It will be a nice acoustic song to tie the whole record together. It’s inspired by Amos 5. We are so excited about the way this CD is coming along, and can’t wait to get it out there. So the coffee pot is full, and we’ve got 2 hours before having to pick up the kids.

Emery also had her birthday over the weekend and had such a great time! She is now a 3 year old. She’s even acting like a 3 year old all of a sudden. So strange. Like she just said, “ok, I’m over the terrible 2 thing, on to the next phase”. She’s so adorable. I have been feeling so overwhelmed with love for my kids this weekend. I guess I was getting emotional over Emery getting older. But her and Wilson are the sweetest kids. I am so blessed.

On with the session….
